Agrimonia eupatoria

Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, astringent. Internal uses: sorethroats, catarrh, diarrhea, cystitis, urinary infections. External uses: lotion for wounds. Magical uses: Protection, hex breaking.

Angelica archangelica

This herb is primarily used to relieve reproductive problems in females. In particular, treatment includes lowering menopausal symptoms, regulating cycles, and relieving menstrual cramps. There is no scientific evidence to support angelicas effectiveness in treating reproductive problems. Treatment for conditions such as high blood pressure, arthritis, allergies, and asthma. Limited evidence supports angelicas ability to increase immune system function; this suggests why the root is effective in treating allergies. It also may possess anti-inflammatory properties, suggesting possible benefits when treating conditions including asthma and arthritis. Angelic root may possibly relax blood vessels because of one of the chemical it contains. This may make it effective in lowering high blood pressure.

Arnica chamissonis

Also called Leopards Bane - The Black and blue Remedy - for bruises, sprains, and dislocations, rheumatism, and skin inflammation. Injuries, falls, blows, contusions, helps prevent and stop shock, hemorrhages, thromboses, bleeding caused by injury, surgery or dental work. Overexertion with sore muscles, sleeplessness after overexertion, blunt trauma. Exhibits antiseptic and pain killing properties. Recommended only for external use due to the seriousness of overdose when taken internally.

Maranta arundinacea

Used as a thickener; similar to cornstarch.

Berberis vulgaris

Barberry shares many properties with its Northwestern counterpart Oregon Grape Root. A bitter herb originally from Europe, it is now cultivated in North America for both ornamental and medicinal purposes. Barberry has been shown to be beneficial in back pain, resulting from kidney weakness or congestion. Barberry is a disinfectant and helps relieve pain during urinary infections. It acts as an antispasmodic and relieves pain from kidney stones and helps clear urine with thick mucus or red sediments. Barberry is also useful for many liver and gall bladder problems, hepatitis, and cirrhosis. It assists in detoxification from effects of poor diet, medications or drugs and helps stimulate the immune system.

Also used in bronchitis, gonorrhea, diarrhea, and to stop bleeding. It is not necessary to drink the tea for long periods, because acute symptoms generally will disappear within a few days with treatment of bearberry leaf tea. Historical or traditional use: The leaves and berries were used by numerous indigenous people from northern latitudes. Native Americans sometimes combined uva ursi with tobacco and smoked it. It was also used as a beverage tea in some places in Russia. The berries were considered beneficial as a weight-loss aid. It was found in wide use for infections of all parts of the body because of its astringent, or "drying", action.

Calendula officinalis

Calendula heals wounds as well as internal and external ulcers. It is an antiseptic, and improves blood flow to the affected area. As an antifungal agent, it can be used to treat athlete`s foot, ringworm, and candida. The tincture applied neat to cold sores encourages healing. Calendula cream is good for acne and diaper rash. An infusion is good for digestion and relieves colitis and symptoms of menopause.

Cinnamomum camphora

Nepeta cataria

Uses include tonics; treats colds, fever, indigestion, flatulence, colic; mild astringent; psychic bond with animals; power; courage; love and happiness.

Thuja occidentalis

The fragrant tips are popular for adding a smoked flavor to fish and meats when cooked with them. Cedar is also used to make sweet-smelling cabinets, garden and pet bedding, potpourris, sachets and a purifying incense for meditation and magic.

Matricaria recutita

Uses include tonics; soothing sedatives; treats indigestion, pain; marriage proposals; good luck gambling; prevents lightening strikes; prosperity; meditation.

Prunus avium

Due to its powerful sedative action, it is used primarily in the treatment of irritating and persistent coughs when increasing expectoration is inappropriate, and thus has a role in the treatment of bronchitis and whooping cough and in the racking cough of debility or convalescence. It can be combined with other herbs to control asthma. Both the cyanogenic glycosides and volatile oil help to improve the digestion, and may be used as a bitter where digestion is sluggish. The cold infusion of the bark may be used as a wash in eye inflammation and as an astringent in diarrhea.
